Arkansas Tech Men’s Basketball is Looking For a Dynamic Head Coach

Arkansas Tech University is looking for a dynamic, proven leader to lead the mens basketball program. The program has a rich tradition of success, boasting 1,348 career wins, 21 regular season conference titles, and 20 postseason trips to the national tournament. From 2009 to 2017, the Yellow Jackets made eight trips to the NCAA Tournament. Read on to learn more about the program and its history. The Arkansas Tech mens basketball program won back-to-back NAIA Division I national championships in 1991 and 1992. In the 1991-92 season, the Golden Suns finished with an overall record of 35-1, winning 28 of their final 28 games by twelve points or more. The 1992 team defeated Wayland Baptist University in the national championship game, while the 1993 team defeated Union University. From 1987 to 2003, head coach Joe Foley led the team.

Arkansas Tech’s men’s basketball program has a rich history. The program has won 12 NAIA national tournament appearances, and moved to NCAA Division II membership in 1996. This year’s team will be led by Sam Smith, a freshman who averaged 19.3 points, 9.1 rebounds, 1.4 assists, and a steal per game. The Tigers’ other stars include David Hall, Brian Oliver, and Isaiah McCowan.

During the early part of the 20th century, the Tech men’s basketball program was not able to play in the new buildings. It needed to use more space to practice, so they started using an armory instead. But the armory wasn’t complete. In 1927, the school broke ground on the Techionery, which included a female-specific gym. In this building, the men’s basketball team was able to grow and improve.

The Arkansas Tech mens basketball team is in search of a dynamic head coach. After a successful four-year run, the team improved 24 wins in his final season. Downey led the Wonder Boys to the national rankings for eight straight weeks during the 2009-10 season. Under his leadership, the team won its first GSC West Division championship and made its first appearance in the NCAA Tournament. Downey was named as the head coach of the NABC/NCAA Division II East All-Star team in 2010.

The position is responsible for overseeing the staff and recruiting student-athletes. He must be adept at budget development and engagement with the Arkansas River Valley and the university community. Additionally, the head coach is responsible for the operation of the summer camp. A successful candidate must be able to cultivate strong relationships with the community and alumni. While he is a new head coach at a small college, he is a proven leader with a long list of accomplishments to his credit.
